Andrew Ellrich passes away just as brother gets to hospital. Remains brought back to Newell and taken to his parents home, William and Ette Ellrich. Funeral Services were held in charge of the Newell Post American Legion. Members of the Legion marched to the house in a body. The casket was placed on a wagon truck used as caisson and was draped with a large flag and taken to the Methodist church with a four horse team.

Andrew was born on the farm east of Newell. He attended Willow Grove district and then Newell Consolidated School. He followed the vocation of farming before entering the service of the US Army, enlisting on July 24, 1918. Honorably discharged May 7, 1919.

He returned to Newell and resumed farming for a period of four years until his health became bad and was not able to work. He was taken to Oakdale Iowa for treatment and died there of TB on May 30, 1924
