Rex Bower Jr. age 86, of Corsicana passed away peacefully at Heritage Oaks Retirement Village on January 24, 2011 after several weeks of pulmonary disorders and lung cancer.

Rex attended Corsicana schools through 1941. He could not join the Armed Forces due to medical disqualifications.

He entered the workforce as an electrician for many years. His other occupations included taxi driver and wrecker operator.

As a professional electric motor rebuilder, he was an asset to the oil industry. His final employment was at Tom's Foods (Lance Corp). He retired in 2007 as the oldest employee at age 82.

He was also a Charter member of the Corsicana Emergency Corps serving over 50 years. He rarely missed working the parking areas of Corsicana High School home football games. He was also an avid supporter of the Calicos and all other Corsicana Tiger teams.

Rex and his late wife, Juanita Bower, were active members of Memorial Baptist Church for over 40 years and had accepted Christ into their lives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rex Bower Sr. and Luticia Coker Bower, loving wife of 55 years Juanita Bower, brothers Earl and Lt. Col. Vernon T.; sisters Alice Laverne and Jerry Nell Jordan.

He is survived by Rex Bower III of Pittsburgh, PA., Ray Bower and wife Debbie of Katy, Billy Don Watkins and wife Martha of Corsicana, Pat Warren and Larry of Corsicana; brothers, Robert and wife Rosa, Melba and wife Eleanor, Miller and wife Pat all of Corsicana, Eddy and wife Virginia of Longview, Wayne (Mickey) and wife Betty Lou of Hillsboro; sister, Helen (Sookie) Bennett of Victoria; grandchildren are Marcie Fiedler and husband Scott of Katy, Mindie Roxanne Bower of Austin, Kennedy Bower of Dallas, Terry Don Watkins, Lance Watkins and wife Damara, Tina Traylor, Chuck Warren and Brian Warren all of Corsicana and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home from 5-8:00pm. Services will be held 3:00pm Friday, January 28, 2011 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lance Watkins, Terry Don Watkins, Brian Warren, David Bower, Bobby Bower and Butch Bower.
