Robert was born in Corsicana, Texas, to the late Rexford Eacil Bower Sr. and Luticia "Ticia" Coker Bower. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and was called back to service during the Korean War. He retired from the United States Post Office in 1984 as mail superintendent. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Corsicana where he served as a Deacon.
Robert had a servant's heart, always wanting to help others in need. He enjoyed volunteering his time with the local "Meals on Wheels" and serving meals at First Baptist Church. He volunteered with Habitat for Humanity building homes for those in need to the community and going on mission trips to build or repair church buildings. Robert was also a charter member of the Navarro County Credit Union that started in the courthouse basement. In 2004, he married Rosa Wear Cummings on December 31.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lola Beth Bower who passed away in 2003 after 54 years of marriage; brothers: Earl Bower, Vernon Bower, Rexford E. Bower Jr., and Eddie Bower; sisters: Alice Bower, Helen "Sookie" Bennett, and Jerry Nell Jordan.
Survivors include his wife, Rosa, of Corsicana; sons: Bobby Bower and wife, Janice, of Corsicana, and Larry Bower and wife, Nancy, of Gilbert, Arizona; grandchildren: Aaron Bower, of Tyler, and Elizabeth Wilson, of Friendswood; great-grandchildren, Justin and Ashlee; brothers: Melba Bower and wife, Eleanor, of Corsicana, Wayne "Mickey" Bower and wife, Betty, of Hillsboro, and Miller Bower and wife, Pat, of Corsicana; a nephew they all considered a brother, Mike Bower; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
