Don R. Evans, 77, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Parkview Memorial Hospital. Born on July 4, 1940, in Columbus, Ind., he was the son of the late Robert and Dorothy (Hickey) Evans. Don graduated from Depauw University and Indiana University earning a Master's Degree in Education and was a member of St. Joe U.M.C. He taught Social Studies and Economics at North Side High School for over 42 years, from which he retired, and continued teaching part-time at Ivy Tech and St. Francis. Don loved traveling with his wife, family and friends and spending time with his grandchildren. A sports fanatic, he enjoyed I.U., the Cincinnati Reds, Notre Dame and the Colts. He is survived by his wife, Cecilia (Mitchell) Evans; daughter, Wendy Evans; son, Chad (Michelle) Evans, all of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Maggie & Max Evans; and sister, Patricia Rich-Tepe of Cincinnati, Ohio. Funeral Service will be 2pm on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Hockemeyer and Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Rd., Fort Wayne, with calling two hours prior. Burial at Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne.
