Lisa M. Polito-Baker, age 58, was called to her heavenly home on Monday, August 28, 2017.
Lisa was born in Pittsburgh, PA on April 5, 1959 and moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1960 with her family.
Lisa graduated from Manzano High School in 1977 and then began an almost 32 year career with Sandia National Laboratory. Sandia Labs transferred Lisa to Las Vegas, NV in 2006 where she retired in 2010.
Lisa had plans to begin a new career and spend time traveling with her husband, but unfortunately, one year after retiring she discovered she had the first of six different cancers. Lisa spent the next six years waging a fierce war against cancer and beat the disease five times with the love and care provided by her husband, Rick along with many doctors and medical professionals. Despite fighting with amazing faith, dignity and grace, the sixth cancer was just too much to overcome. Lisa would be the first to tell you that her personal relationship with God gave her the strength to fight this horrible disease. Lisa never asked "why me?" but only asked for the strength to keep fighting so that she could share her love with her family and many friends. Her unwavering faith and devotion to God was an inspiration to many and helped others deal with her illness.
While in Albuquerque, Lisa was a member of John XXIII Catholic Community and upon arriving in Las Vegas a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton.
Lisa was preceded in death by her father, Gene in 2008 and her mother, Phyllis in 2014.
Lisa is survived by the love of her life, husband Rick, brother, Gene and sister-in-law, Joan of Albuquerque, brother, Tony and sister-in-law, Kelly of Panama City Beach, FL and brother, Andy and nephews, Joey and Dominic, of Scottsdale, AZ, uncle, Niel Pezzillo of Las Vegas, NV, aunt, Mary Ann and her husband, Dr. Gary Schroeder of Albuquerque, as well as a large extended family in Albuquerque, Pittsburgh and Las Vegas.
Lisa's only regret in life was that she did not have children of her own so she cherished that Rick's children loved and treated her as if she was their mom while also allowing her to share the grand parenting duties with Rick. Lisa is also survived by children, Jeannette of Apple Valley, MN, Jacob and his wife, Krystal of El Paso, Aaron of Phoenix and seven grandchildren.

Lisa was blessed to be surrounded by family and friends who loved her and she will be deeply missed.
