Jane LaVonne Peterson was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on February 24, 1924, to Frank R. Brady and Genevieve B. (Zimmel) Brady. Jane lived in Norfolk and Lincoln, Nebraska; Luverne, Minn.; Salt Lake City, Utah; and Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Jane was a member of the Eastern Star. She attended University of South Dakota as a student in Art, Social Studies and Education. She was an active member of the Alpha Phi sorority. Jane was a teacher in Luverne, Minnesota, Lincoln, Nebraska, Salt Lake City, Utah and Sioux Falls, South Dakota where she retired.
Jane married Robert Peterson August 12, 1949 and had 60 plus years of a wonderful marriage.
Jane is survived by her son, Mahroos Robert Scot Peterson (wife Maryam Susan) who resides in Germany; daughter, Lisa Burling of Yankton, South Dakota. Jane is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Isaac Robert (wife Leticia), Ahmad George (wife Julie), Ibrahim Gabriel, and Aisha Leah Peterson; and Joseph Riordan (spouse Bruno Santos), John Vincent (Wife Ady), James Christopher, Jeffery Thomas, Michael Jason (wife Gillian), and Andrew George Burling; and 4 great grandchildren, August Robert, Emberly Faith, Kaiden James and Kevin.
Visitation will begin on Friday, September 8, 2017, with family present to greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 at Miller Funeral Home, 13th and Main Avenue, Sioux Falls. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 9, 2017, at Southern Hills United Methodist Church, 3400 E. 49th Street, Sioux Falls, SD, with interment at Woodlawn Cemetery.
