SOUTH BEND - Sally Ann Karczewski, 87, passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2017, in Southfield Village Nursing Facility.

Sally was born March 6, 1930, in South Bend, to the late Valentine and Martha (Jasinski) Kopczynski. On January 20, 1951, Sally married Theodore Karczewski; he preceded her in death on February 20, 1993. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Stanley, Adam, Joseph, Zygmunt, Stan, and Benedict Kopczynski; and sisters, Alice Kopczynski, Jane Wachowiak, Mary Witucki, and Ann Szalay.

Survivors of Sally include her daughters, Christine (Vernon) Shepherd of South Bend, and Barbara Karczewski of Mishawaka; grandchildren, Meredith (Chad) Hershberger of Granger, and Grant Shepherd of Chicago; great-grandchildren, Addison and Braden Hershberger; and a brother, Edward Kopczynski.

Sally worked for The Associates and retired from Allied Signal/Bendix in 1993. She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Stanislaus Bishop & Martyr Catholic Church. Sally was a member of the ZB Falcon Golf League, and the Bendix Retiree Club. She loved music, playing her harmonica, singing and Polka dancing. She was an avid Notre Dame Women's Basketball fan. Most Important to Sally was her family. She was very close to her grandchildren; they brought her much joy and happiness. Sally will be greatly missed by her family and friends whose lives she touched throughout her life.

Visitation for Sally will be 9:00 am to 10:30 am Friday, September 1, 2017, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., with a Rosary to be prayed at 10:30 am, and the Funeral Service to begin at 11:00 pm in the funeral home. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
