The Daily Oklahoman - Sunday, July 30, 2000:

Marian Carol Mote Clopton passed away July 28, 2000, in Oklahoma City, at the age of 52. She was born May 4, 1948, in Oklahoma City to Ellis and Frances Mote.

Marian is preceded in death by her father, and brother, Roger Mote. She is survived by her mother, Frances Mote of Yukon; her husband, Gary and their children, Mark and Elise, all of the home; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She also leaves behind her special friends, Kay Woody, Joyce Shepherd, and Lynne McAllister.

Marian was a former social worker and a public school teacher. Marian was a devoted mother, social worker, school teacher, and friend. She was a kind and caring person, and was actively involved as a member of Mayflower Congregational Church. She married the love of her life in 1968, and was a loving and wonderful mother to her two children, Mark and Elise. Words cannot convey the impact she had on those around her.

Marian fought cancer bravely and the family is profoundly appreciative to Dr. Aleda Toma and all the staff of Cancer Care Associates for the compassion and professionalism expressed in their efforts to save her life and ease the pain of her disease.

Marian's death will leave a permanent hole in the lives of the loving family and close friends she leaves behind. Her memory will be a treasure for those of us she left behind. Thank you, God, for the gift of such a person.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, or any charity that helps the poor and disadvantaged. Funeral services will be Monday, July 31, 2000, at 11:00 a.m. at the Mayflower Congregational Church (3901 NW 63rd St.) with burial to follow at Sunnylane.
