2009 obituary. George Kostrometinoff, 83, died March 3, 2009, in Sitka. He lived most of his life in Metlakatla, and lived for some of his childhood in Juneau and Sitka. He was the trap 2 watchman, a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Presbyterian church. Mr. Kostrometinoff also was a member of the Metlakatla Veterans. He enjoyed eating lunch at the senior center in Metlakatla, and visiting with the senior citizens. "He had quite a sense of humor," his family writes. He was preceded in death by his parents, Boris Kostrometinoff and Elsie Peck; sisters, Cecelia Hayward and Dorothy Dundas; and brothers, Boris "Sam" Kostrometinoff and Joseph Gordon. Mr. Kostrometinoff is survived by his sisters; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. A memorial service is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2009, at the Presbyterian Church in Metlakatla. The burial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at Ocean View Cemetery in Metlakatla. Mr. Kostrometinoff's ashes will be buried next to his brother Sam's grave.
