Major Herrington, a World War II veteran, was a member of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Infantry Division, U.S. Army, Korea. He was Killed in Action during a fighting withdrawal from Kunu-ri to Sunchon, North Korea on November 30, 1950 (the Battle of Chosin Reservoir). His remains were not recovered. His name is permanently inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. He is also honored on the Korean War Veterans Memorial.
