Michael "Mike" served his life reflecting upon life itself, serving the United States Marine Corps. during wartime in Viet Nam (1969-1971) and following active duty he transferred to the Reserves. While the war haunted the remainder of his life, he was a true patriot in honor of those fallen and his country to the end. He expressed himself in the arts, formally music and poetry.

He graduated from Richfield High School, Waco, Texas in 1967 with many accomplishments accredited to his name and dedication to music, student body, and learning. If you knew Mike then or later in life, you would also know how "punny" he was, too. He loved to make people smile and laugh. He attended different colleges, but discovered his quest was in nature and exploring different parts of the US, and the people.

He was predeceased by his father, J M Gregory, brother Marion Ray "Bubba" Gregory, and sister, Francy Dianne Gregory Kylochko. Surviving are his mother, Joan Margaret Null; two siblings, Cindy Shivers, and Sanford "Sandy" Gregory; nephews Clifford "Chuck" Holle (Lezlee), Gene Holle (Mary), Robert Thomas Robins (Lindsey), Zachary Joseph Ramsey; nieces Jessica Gardiner, Lisa Gardiner; Lauren Elizabeth and Joan Claire Lightfoot, cousins, and friends.

"In Memory of my brother, Joe Michael Gregory.
You are not and will not be forgotten. Your service in Viet Nam will not be forgotten, and always respected. It's affects on the remainder of your years were undeniably haunting in your life, a very special, gifted, and talented human being. All the poetry you wrote and the absolute mesmerizing talented pianist "by ear" you were are all-telling of the Godly person you were. I have missed you, my big brother, for many years, and now you are finally at peace, rest now, Mike, in the arms of the Lord. No more memories of war, no more fighting within, no more heartache, only joy and everlasting and undeniable love.
Your little sister, Cindy
Semper Fi, and Welcome Home".
