Passed away Tuesday at home.

Son of Robert G. and Edna Elizabeth Wienke Seymour.
Married Frances “Frankie” B. Eller March 5, 1959 in Sterling, Indiana. She preceded him in death April 13, 2001.
Survivors include sister Bernice Merrill; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
He was also preceded in death by sister Helen Miller, and brothers Lyle, Donnie, Ervin and Rolland J. Seymour.

The family moved to the Mellott area in the 1940s. He graduated from Richland Township School in Newtown in 1946. Walter farmed in Richland Township for many years. He also worked with Linville Builders, building homes and barns in the Hillsboro, Mellott and Newtown area.

Walter was a 70 year member of the Mellott Volunteer Fire Department, serving as fire chief for 45 years. He was the longest active member of the volunteer fire department in the State of Indiana. He was a life member of IVFA (Indiana Volunteer Fireman’s Association). Walter also raised a gelding champion quarter horse in 1975. Walter was well loved and respected in the Mellott community.


Funeral service 11am Saturday, August 19 at Maus Funeral Home, Hillsboro with Pastor Lori Kerr officiating.
Visitation 4-8pm Friday with a IVFA memorial service at 8pm.

Memorial donations to the Mellott Volunteer Fire Department.
