Man found dead in wrecked car
McKINNEY -— Robert Steve Cleere, 29, of 2840 Lamar Ave.. Paris, was found dead in his wrecked automobile about 2:30 p.m. Thursday after an employe of Ihe Texas Department of Highways and Public Transportation stopped on routine inspection of Stale Highway 121 to examine a damaged road sign.
The car, according lo authorises, had crashed into a creek bank about 11 miles north of McKinney at the Pilot Grove Creek bridge and landed almost under the bridge. The accident, they reported, may have happened Tuesday. Officers said the car climbed over the bridge railing before coming to rest upside down near the bridge. Power tools were used to remove Cleere's body from the wreckage.
An autopsy was to be performed by the Dallas Counly Medical Examiner's Office, authorities said. Funeral arrangements are pending wilh Leverett and Steele Funeral Home.
Mr. Cleere was born July 20, 1948, in Paris, son of John W. Cleere and Margaret (Phifer) Cleere. He was employed by Olen Jordan Construclion Co. as a brick mason. He attended the Nazarene Church at Blossom.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Clay Lynn of Powderly; his grandmolher, Mrs. Joe Dodd of Paris; and three brothers, Malcom Cleere of Paris, Jack Cleere of Garland and Herman McMichael of Fort Worth.

Cleere funeral
Funeral services for Steve Cleere of 2840 Lamar were held at 4 p.m. Sunday in the Leverette and Steele Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Mike Martin officiated, and burial was in Knights of Honor Cemetery at Blossom.
Pallbearers were Gene Buster, Bill Buster, Russell Whitley, Richard Lynn and Travis Ballard.
