Ronnie "Pops" Parkest, 65, of Slaughters, KY passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at his home.

He was born on February 10, 1952 in Madisonville, KY to the late Ada and Celester Parkest. Ronnie was formerly employed with Audubon Metals and Kentucky-Birmingham Bolt, Inc. and he attended Fellowship Temple in Madisonville. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and UK Basketball.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Parkest; and his sister, Nora Parkest Lee.

Survivors include his wife of forty-four years, Gale Parkest; daughter, Christie Nabours and husband, William of Ohio County, KY; son, Kevin Parkest and wife, Jamie of Slaughters; brothers, Donnie Parkest (Ronnie's twin brother) and Kenneth Parkest; sisters, Brenda Lee, Betty Rickard and husband, Gene and Rebecca Blackburn and husband, Jerry; grandsons, Dustin, Bradley and Jacob Todd and Jonathan, Aaron and Matthew Parkest; granddaughter, Katelynn Todd; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Bro. Gene Rickard officiating. Burial to follow at Slaughters Cemetery in Slaughters.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are David Rickard, Jamie Love, William Nabours, Brian Perdue, Kevin Parkest, Kevin Haire, Randy Grimm and Danny Fitzgerrel. Honorary pallbearer is Jacob Todd.
