Lawrence "Doc" Brown

Lawrence A. "Doc" Brown, 81, Route 1, Grantville, died Thursday, March 21, at a Topeka hospital.
Mr. Brown was a farmer and stockman.

He was born March 17, 1904, at Grantville, the son of Henry Edward and Mary Brns Brown. He spent his life in the Grantville community.
Mr. Brown was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Meriden and the Pioneer Harness Club in Jefferson County.

He was married to Bessie B. Spillman Oct. 2, 1926, in Topeka. She died July 21, 1976. He was married to Florence G. Campbell Jan. 4, 1979 at Osawatomie. She survives. A daughter, Mary Lou Brown, died in December 1949.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Helen Worthington, 3825 N. Kansas Ave.; five sons, Robert E. Brown, 128 E. Lyman Road, Kenneth G. Brown, 3108 N. Kansas Ave., John L. Brown, 1931 N. Kansas Ave., and Donald D. Brown and Roy R. Brown, both of Grantville; a stepson, William D. Bledsoe, Flemington, Mo.; three brothers, William E. Brown, 2859 Jewell, Orville Brown, Garnett, and Reamer Brown, Sun City; 15 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and 10 stepgreat-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Alyosius Catholic Church in Meriden. Burial will be in Grantville Cemetery. Mr. Brown will lie in state after 10 a.m. today at davidson Funeral Home in Topeka where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. today. He will lie in state from 9 until 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pioneer Harness Club and sent in care of the funeral home.
