John Evan Ellis, 93, of Orange passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2017, at the Dogwood Village Assisted Living. Born on March 10, 1924, in Thornhill, Orange County, he was the son of the late Russell H. and Carrie Brockman Ellis. He was also preceded in death by brothers, J. Marvin and Russell K. Ellis; and sisters, Alice E. Miller and Caroline Ellis. Mr. John was an avid Cattle person, an accomplished baseball player and always looked forward to the Saturday night dances. He is survived by a daughter, Cindy Ellis; and a sister, Frances Graves Ellis of Vero Beach Florida. A graveside funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Friday, August 11, 2017, in Graham Cemetery, Orange. Don Hughes will officiate. Preddy Funeral Home of Orange is assisting with arrangements
