Margaret Ann (Salitros) Hood, 87, of Brazil, Indiana passed away on August 7, 2017, while at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Margaret was born on December 28, 1929 in Clay County, Indiana, the daughter of Joe and Irene (Dowell) Salitros. She attended Van Buren High School and graduated in 1947. Following high school she worked as a nurse's aide at Clay County Hospital. She also had worked at Hulman and Company and Shaffers Industrial Supply. She married Kenneth Hood after he returned from serving in Korea. Together they had 3 children. Much of her life was devoted to being a wife and mother.
In addition to her parents, Joe and Irene Salitros, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Hood whom she married on November 1, 1952; a sister Madonna Daniels; a brother Phillip Salitros; and a daughter-in-law Debra (Love) Hood.
Survivors include her 3 children: Kenneth Kurt Hood of Brazil, Rita Harden and husband Paul of Center Point and Eric Joseph Hood of Brazil; grandchildren: Elizabeth Swalls and husband Chad of Terre Haute, Matthew Harden and fiancé Hannah Weist of Terre Haute, Emily Harden of Terre Haute and fiancé Ryan Beasley of Brookston, Indiana, Alyssa Gervais and husband Sage of California and Cassie Hood of Brazil; 2 great-grandsons Warren "Ren" Luther Swalls and Braxton Arie Gervais; a brother Robert Salitros of Knightsville as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be at Lawson – Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834, Friday, August 11, 2017 from 11:00am until 1:00pm. Services will follow at 1:00pm with Pastor Bill Price officiating. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery.
