Frederick F. Fuessenich loved Torrington and its people. That was characteristic of him in early manhood and as he grew older it became a great passion with him. He always wanted to be of service to his home people. He loved the young people and his gift of the park which bears the name of his beloved wife was conceived through love of the children and the youth of the city.
Mr. Fuessenich leaves more than the splendid oak he gave in the city to benefit the people of the community he loved. He leaves the finest example of private and civic life. He was a good man and a good citizen. His example is one that the best of us may emulate. If even a majority of the people lived as he lived this would be a wonderful community.
And the people have already paid to him their tribute of admiration and affection. Few men die so universally loved as Mr. Fuessenich. Death to him was his crowning moment.
