Donnell Gowens 86, of Lubbock formally of Floydada passed away Sunday August 6, 2017 in Lubbock. Donnell Gowens was born on February 27, 1931, in Ralls Texas to Clarence and Lora Atchinson Gowens. He married the love of his life Wilma Alldredge on December 20, 1950 in Crosbyton TX. Donnell was a member of First Baptist Church in Floydada, where he served as a deacon, and was a member of the men’s Sunday School class, he was also a member of the Rotary Club and Floydada Country Club. He was a former member of First Baptist Church in Crosbyton and a foreman for Texas Department of Transportation. He is preceded in death by his son Rick Douglas Gowens, three brothers Robert Gowens, Orvel Gowens, and Dalmer Gowens, two sisters Margie Scroggins, and Ella Rogers and his parents. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Wilma Gowens of Lubbock, two sons Arvin Gowens of San Antonio and Kelton Gowens and wife Richie of Lubbock, five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Visitation will be Wednesday August 9 from 6-7 p.m at Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m at the First Baptist Church in Floydada. Burial will be 2:00 p.m Thursday at the Crosbyton Cemetery.
