Married Mary Gurley in 1813 in North Carolina. In 1828 he removed his family to Tennessee and then to Arkansas in 1833 where they remained until 1842 when they went to Missouri where they left by wagon train for Oregon in the spring of 1843.
After establishment in what is now Marion County he served in the legislature from 1844-1846 and once again in 1851 and 1852.
Had one other daughter, Sarah Lucinda who married Levi Corzine/Cozine
