Private Te Wa Moana Paenga was awarded the New Zealand Operational Service Medal which, along with the Memorial Flag, was presented to his father Mr Ahipene Rangi Paenga at the Auckland War Memorial on Thursday 27th November 2003 by Helen Clark the Prime Minister of New Zealand and the Minister of Defence Mark Burton.
