He was baptized on July 20, 1794 at St. Sepulchre Church in London. He received an M.A. in 1825 from Trinity College in Cambridge, and held lesser clergical offices until becoming vicar in 1842 of St. Barnabas Church in London, where he served until his death one year later. He was interred with his wife on May 4, 1843 in a family vault in the crypt at St. Barnabas Church.
