96, died peacefully at her home in Watkinsville, GA, on Tuesday morning, August 1, 2017.
She was born to Edward and Mildred Poynton in Washington, D.C, on February 10, 1921 and grew up there. Martha and James E. Bowman were married in Colorado Springs, CO on April 21, 1950. She was a lifelong Episcopalian and a member of St. Paul's for many years.
She will be remembered as a loving Mom, Grandmother and friend who will be missed in many ways. After raising her two sons she spent her retirement as a challenge level square dancer, cross-stitching, crafts, reading and spending time with her grandchildren.
Martha was preceded in death by James, her husband; and her sister, Barbara Gifford.
She is survived by two children, Bruce of Watkinsville, GA and John of Athens, GA.
She's also survived by 3 grandchildren, Anna Bowman, Los Angeles, CA; Jonathan Bowman, Greenville, SC; and Benjamin Bowman, Raleigh, NC.
Visitation will be held from 9 - 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Indianapolis, Indiana, followed by a funeral mass at 10 a.m. Graveyard service for family following at 1 p.m. at the Park Lawn Cemetery, Amboy, Indiana.
