Virginia Ruth Maxwell, 98, of Grayville, Illinois, died Thursday, August 03, 2017, at Meadowood Nursing Home in Grayville. She was born October 2, 1918, in Albion, Illinois, the daughter of Joel and Lucille (Fewkes) Reid. She married Reid Maxwell September 18, 1937, and he preceded her in death on October 14, 1981. They resided in the Fortney community on the Maxwell family farm. They had two children, George Maxwell and Wilma (Maxwell) Lingafelter.

Virginia was a homemaker and a wonderful seamstress and a very good cook. Her fried chicken was the best. She enjoyed her grandchildren and loved her family. She was baptized at West Village Church on November 22, 1931. After marriage, she attended Fortney Methodist Church.

Survivors include son George Maxwell and his companion, Marjory, of Naples, Florida; daughter Wilma (Larry) Lingafelter of Grayville; grandchildren Kim Maxwell, Christopher Maxwell, Steve (Mary) Lingafelter, Jeff (Tonia) Lingafelter; great grandchildren Ashley Roosevelt, Keaton Lingafelter, Dalton Shultz; great great grandson Zeke Roosevelt.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother Jr. Reid; sisters Dora Fieber, Julia Tribe, Iva Shepherd, Emily Shelby; great grandson Dylan Nuno.
