Malcolm Sinclair, first of Quendale, was lay vicar and reader of Dunrossness, from 20 Dec. 1565 and continued in 1601. When men of the Spanish Armada were wrecked at the Fair Isle in 1588, it was Malcolm Sinclair who received them. He was appointed Commissioner of Peace 28 Nov. 1609, and to apprehend rebels who ight proceed to Shetland on 10 Aug. 1614. He died 6 Jan. 1618 and was buried in the old churchyard of Cross at the head of Quendale Bay. He was married to Margaret Sinclair, daughter of Hugh Sinclair of Brugh, and they had a large family. Appointed a Commissioner of the Peace 28 June 1609. Appointed to apprehend rebels who may proceed to Shetland on 10 August 1614. Married Margaret Sinclair, daughter of Hugh Sinclair of Brugh. Children: James of Quendale; William; George of Craigends and Rapness in Orkney; Malcolm; Michael; Elizabeth (m. Patrick Forbes); Margaret (m. 1593, Michael Balfour of Garth, Orkney); Isabel (m.
