Dr. Edward Carmichael Rothrock was reportedly buried at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Los Angeles. When Dr. Rothrock died in 1919 the only Forest Lawn Cemetery open was the Forest Lawn - Glendale Cemetery, but they don't have record of him being buried there. Can anyone confirm that he is there? perhaps in an unmarked grave?

Edward Carmichael Rothrock was the fifth of eight known children of George William Rothrock Sr. (1798-1865) and his second known wife, Louisiana Johnston (1804-1888), who married 14 Mar 1827 at Fredericksburg City, Virginia. George was first married to Martha Hartwell Taliaferro (c1800-1825) on 13 May 1820 at Bath, Caroline County, Virginia, with whom he had two known children.

Edward was first married to Mary Elizabeth (went by Lizzie) Hoskins (1832-1888) on 28 May 1857 at Copiah County, Mississippi. Edward and Lizzie were the parents of six known children, namely:

1. George E. Rothrock (1857-1858)
2. Mary A. Rothrock Jennings Powell (1860-1944)
3. George Edward Warren Rothrock (1861-1889)
4. William Lee Rothrock (1864-1937)
5. Nannie Fayette Rothrock Adams Love (1869-1899)
6. Louisiana Ellen Rothrock Hoskins (1871-1904)

After Lizzie died, Edward remarried to Mrs. Julia Annie Tarkington Gordon (1860-1943) on 30 Sep 1891 at Corsicana, Navarro County, Texas. Edward and Julia were parents of three known children, namely:

7. Charles Lieb Rothrock (1892-1977)
8. Fayetta Johnston Rothrock Goodwin Wilkinson (1892-1967)
9. George Abram Rothrock (1898-1986)

Edward and Julia divorced, and Edward remarried to Polly (Pollie?) Ann Jackson (1855-1948) in c1910 in presumably Texas. Edward and Polly had no known children together.

Edward graduated from Memphis Medical College in 1858 as listed as a regular allopath. He was a Corporal in the Brookhaven, Mississippi Light Artillery during the Civil War. While living in Texas he was a country doctor for many years. In 1850 he was living with his parents, but also listed as living (working as a clerk) with a China Merchant family in Fredericksburg, Virginia. In 1860 (21 June) the parents (with no children) were living as roomers at Hillsboro, Scott County, Mississippi. Thus was the daughter Mary really born in 1860?

In 1870 E. C. Rothrock (age 36, a paper hanger!) was living at Brookhaven, Lincoln County, Mississippi, with wife S.E. (age 38, born Kentucky), daughter M. A. (age 12), son G. W. (age 9), son Willie (age 6) and daughter Nannie (age 11 months). All the children were born in Mississippi. In 1880 the following family was living at Henderson County, Texas: Elizabeth Rothrock (farmer, where was Edward?) age 48; born Tennessee; Nettie (daughter) age 20; born MS; Eddie (son) age 18; born MS; Willie L. (son) age 15; born AR; Nannie (daughter) age 10; born MS; and Nellie (daughter) age 8; born AR. Living nearby with the James Skinner family was another daughter Mittie (Mary) Rothrock, age 19, music teacher, born MS. In 1880 an Edward Rothrock (b. c1835 in VA, married, a physician) was living with the William H. and Clarissa A. Stiner family at Mountain Home, Baxter County, Arkansas. Was this the right Edward? Probably.

In 1900 Julie, Elisha (b. Oct 1886 in Texas, was he Elisha Gordon?), Emily (b. Oct 1886 in Texas, was she Emily Gordon), Charlie, Fayetta and George A. were living with the widowed husband of Nannie Rothrock Love at Justice Precinct No. 8, Tarrant County, Texas. Julie said she was married 9 years (to Edward Rothrock), mother of ten, nine living. Where was her husband Edward?

In 1910 Julia A. (listed as a Gordon, she was divorced from Edward) (mother of ten children, nine living) was living at Houston, Harris County, Texas with James Arthur Gordon (age 24, a son from her first marriage to Elisha S. Gordon (1856-1890); Elisha Gordon (age 22, a son from her first marriage); Charles Rothrock (age 17); Fay Rothrock (age 17) and George Rothrock( age 16?).

Links to Edward's parents, all of his three known wives, five of his nine known children and four of his nine known siblings and half-siblings are included below.
