She was the "Fearless Leader" of the Golden Eagles 4-H Club for many years. She served as president of the Anoka County Historical Society for twenty years. She was president and member of the Minneapolis Poetry Society and the Midwest Federation of Chaparral Poets. She was a member of the Daughters of Union Veterans, the St. Andrews Society and the Eastern Star. She worked for the Anoka County Union reporting on area matters. She served as secretary of the Minnesota Bluegrass and Old Time Music Association.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband Rodney (d. 2008), her parents and her sister, Ethel Archibald.
