In 1940 he married Nola Frances Hughes. In 1941 he moved to Norfolk, Virginia. He was employed with Old Virginia Electric & Power Company, Virginia Transit Company as a Trolley Car driver until 1948 when the last Trolley Car stopped. He then operated the city buses until his retirement in 1977. He worked for over five years with the Transit Union as President. After retirement he worked part-time as a VA State Vehicle Inspector at Western Auto, Sears Auto, & Greenbriar Chrysler Plymouth until the age of 85. He was a founding member of Fairmount Park FWBC in Norfolk and was a member of Great Bridge FWBC in Chespeake, VA for over 30 years.
He was preceded in death by a son, Glen Pike. Survivors include his loving wife of seventy-two years Frances, three children Judy Haller (Roger), Carolyn Lauer (Chuck), Randy Pike (Kristi), daughter in law, Jill Pike, nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 1, 2013, 1:00 p.m. at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home where a celebration of Mr. Pike's life will follow at 2:00p.m. Entombment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park.
