Samuel was believed to be a doctor. He lived in Shenandoah County then moved to the town of Washington in what was then Culpeper County but is now Rappahannock County, Virginia. He owned a number of lots in the both the town of Washington and the town of nearby Sperryville. He married in Shendandoah County to Elizabeth Watkins Somersall the daughter of John William Somersall and his wife Mary Morgan Somersall. Samuel Hiram and Elizabeth had six sons and four daughters. Their second son, Hiram I, died at an early age. Their third son was also named Hiram. He married twice. The first wife was Mary Porter and the second wife was Sarah Earle. Their first son, Harvey Evans, died in 1829 in the town of Washington, then Culpeper County, Virginia. Harvey married Emily S. Hesser. Their other children were Harriet who married Armistead Hesser, Emily who married George Hesser, Jr., Mary Elizabeth who married James Henry Triplett, Dr Samuel Andrew Jackson Evans who married Sarah Ann Jackson, Alexander Hamilton Evans who married Maria Mathilda Coxe, George Hesser Evans who married Mary Ann Cowles and Amanda Melvina Evans who married Dr. Nathan Plympton West. Samuel is believed to have been buried in the town of Washington, Rappahannock County, Virginia but the cemetery is unknown at this time.
