Sister Margaret Downing, CSJ (Sister Mary Bertin), in her 75th year as a beloved member of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Boston, died September 15, 2016. Devoted daughter of the late Michael and Winifred (Kelly) Downing, and beloved sister of the late Eleanor Downing and Sister Belita (Winifred Elizabeth) Downing, CSJ. Sister is survived by her loving brother, and cherished nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and her Sisters in the Congregation. Formerly missioned as a Teacher in the schools of the Archdiocese of Boston including St. Columbkille School, Brighton; St. Rita School, Boston; St. Joseph School, Amesbury; Sacred Heart School, West Lynn; St. Theresa School, West Roxbury; St. Mary School, Dedham; St. Mary School, Brookline; St. William School, Dorchester; Immaculate Conception, Marlborough; and was a significant presence at Holy Name School and Parish, West Roxbury. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery in Natick.
