Gary Gene Chandler, 64, of Pekin, passed away at 4:34 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, 2017 in Pekin.

Born September 7, 1952 in St. Louis, Missouri to Russell E. and Margie M. Schwartzkopf, he married Brenda Huston on November 28, 1981 in Pekin. She survives

Also surviving are his father, Russell E. Chandler of North Pekin; two step-children, Shannon Kirkhuff and Derrick Kirkhuff, both of Pekin; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Cheryl (Tom) Knaebel of Peoria.

He was preceded in death by his mother and his son, Jason Chandler.

Gary retired from Laborer’s Local #231 in Pekin after thirty years of service.

He was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

His graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. There will be no visitation. Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Rescued Heart Animal Hospital at 3521 Broadway Rd. Pekin, IL 61554.
