Charles Edward Alford, 88, went to his eternal home on July 23rd, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Wake County, to the late Annie Medlin Alford and Luke Alford.

Ed retired from the North Carolina Prison System after 27 years. After retirement, Ed drove cars for Kenly Auto Auction and Leith Auto Auction. He was a recipient of the Order of the Long Leaf Pine by former Governor Martin. Ed was a faithful member of Central Baptist Church serving as a Deacon, usher, choir member, vacation Bible school leader and on many other committees. He loved his Lord, family, church family and willingly helped anyone in need.

Surviving is his loving wife of 40 years, Lois Pulley Jones Alford. Her daughters, Rose Lippard(Philip), Cindy Wall (Bobby) and their children, Tyler Lippard, Brandon and Lauren Wall. His daughter, Ann Alford Eddins; her three children: Tammy Perry (Bryan), Terri Eddins, Jay Eddins (Kelly); eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews that held a special place in his heart. Ed was one of nine children: two sisters and one brother survive him.

Ed was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Woodard Alford and son-in-law, Buddy Eddins; three sisters and two brothers.

A service to celebrate Ed’s life will be held 7:00 pm, Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel.

Visitation will be from 6-6:45 pm, followed by the service.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at 10:00 am at Rolesville Baptist Church Cemetery, 498 W Young Street, Rolesville, 27571.
