Stanley Ray West
1928 ~ 2017
Stanley Ray West was born the 6th of 6 children to Loren Milton West and Pearl Hilda Radmall on August 1, 1928 in Pleasant Grove, Utah. The family later moved to a home built by his father in Pleasant Grove at 449 South 400 East.
During World War II, he worked as a fifteen year old at Geneva Steel. In summer time, he mowed lawns at the cemetery with a hand push mower. After graduating from Pleasant Grove High School and Seminary, he served a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Western States. He served in the Coast Guard, making several rescue missions in the San Francisco area. He delivered milk, worked at the State Prison, Hercules Company, and ran a service station in Pleasant Grove. Later he started a business with his brother called West Construction where he gained a love of excavation. After which, he worked for the Post Office until he was sixty years old when he retired.
He met his wife, Donna Fae Pedersen, at BYU. They were married November 15, 1957. They lived in Pleasant Grove for several years where they had eight children. They moved to American Fork where he lived out the remaining years of his life.
As a family, they traveled around most of the United States, Canada, and Mexico. He loved camping, fishing, and hunting. Wherever they went, he loved being with his family. He enjoyed making people smile with his wit and humor.
Stan passed away on July 19, 2017 at his home in American Fork. He is survived by his wife, Donna, and children, Kathy (Dano) of Maui, Suzanne (Neil) of Lehi, Terry (Susan) of Pleasant Grove, Jill (Greg) of American Fork, Darren of Eagle Mountain, Scott of American Fork, 19 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.
