Robert Allan, 82, of New Kensington died Wednesday (June 23, 2004) at his home. Born May 8, 1922 in Scotland, he came to the United States at age 2 and settled in New Kensington. Mr. Allan was an X-ray developer at the former Citizens General Hospital, New Kensington, for 28 years before retiring. A member of the Seventh Street Sportsman's Club, New Kensington, he enjoyed fishing and being around children and his dogs. He always carried a bag of candy to pass out to friends and children. Mr. Allan is survived by his wife of 34 years, Gwendolyn M. Elston Allan; a son, Keith Allan of New Kensington; and a sister, Mrs. Betty (Frank) Valla of Harwick, Springdale Township. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Margaret Allan; three brothers, John, Dave and Walt Allan; and five sisters, Helen Andrews, Ann Crumley, Dolores Bialas, and Margaret and Marian Allan. Services and burial will be at the convenience of the family. The family suggests memorial donations may be made to the National Transplant Assistance Fund in honor of Wayne Meyers, Suite 230, 3475 Westchester Pike, Newton Square, PA 19073.
