He was born January 28, 1929 in Fulks Run, to the late Lloyd Garrison and Alma Ruth Turner Turner.
Wayne was a poultry grower for 68 years. He served in the Korean War from 1952 – 1954. He was a member of Sunset Drive United Methodist Church in Broadway. He was a member of Chimney Rock V.F.W. Post #9660, the Antique Automobile Club of America, and the Tri-County Automobile Club.
On December 20, 1950 he married the former Betty Lee Holsinger, who survives.
Also surviving is one daughter, Joanna T. Thompson and husband Phillip of Broadway; one son, Jeremy C. Turner and wife Tonya of Broadway; grandchildren, Stephanie Thompson of Broadway, Jonathan Thompson and fiancée Kaitlyn Gemmell of Glen Allen, VA, and Cole G. Turner and Zane E. Turner, both of Broadway; great-grandchildren, Mickey Long, Aiden Bennett, and Abigail Bennett; two brothers, Garnett Turner of Harrisonburg, and Miles Turner of Fulks Run; and one sister, Vada May of Mathias, WV.
Two brothers, Granville “Red” Turner and Gifford Turner, preceded him in death.
Rev. Glen Langston and Lane Turner will conduct a memorial service 2:00 PM Thursday at Sunset Drive United Methodist Church. Burial at Linville Creek Cemetery will be private.
The family will receive friends following the memorial service, or friends may call anytime at Grandle Funeral home in Broadway.
