Flonnie Blackmon Barbour died peacefully on Easter Monday April 21, 2014. She was the daughter of Lawrence Blackmon and Kittie Thompson Blackmon.
She was the oldest of 6 children raised in the Blackmon’s Crossroads Community. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Four Oaks and taught Sunday School for over 25 years.
Flonnie was preceded in death by her husband David Earl Barbour, Chief of Police and later Town Manager of Four Oaks. She was also preceded in death by her sisters Senda Adams, Dorothy Lee Curtis and Bonnie Snipes and her 2 brothers, Billy Lawrence Blackmon and Bobby Blackmon.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Barbara Barbour Williford and husband Tommy of Smithfield and Nancy Barbour Harner and husband Jim of Raleigh. She is also survived by the “joys of her life” her 2 granddaughters, Blaire Narron and husband Todd and Jill Hunter Thornton and husband Ray. She has 3 great grandchildren, Walker Lee Narron, Olivia Todd Narron and Taylor Nicole Thornton and loved to visit with them. She is also survived by her “special daughter” Donna Wester of Smithfield.
She dedicated her life to her family and loved to gather everyone at her Sister Senda’s home for Holiday meals.
The family would like to thank the staff of Smithfield Manor, her special “nurse angel” Janice Gaddy , Dr. Joseph Liverman and Dr. Eric Janis.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11am at the Four Oaks Cemetery. The Reverend Billy Nowell will officiate. The Family will receive friends on Tuesday 6:00PM-8:00PM at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Four Oaks, NC In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Four Oaks EMS P. O.
