Arlene Jeanette “June” Chapman, 83, of Horseheads, N.Y., passed away on Thursday, Aug. 11, 2011. Arlene was born in Sayre, Pa. on June 21, 1928 the daughter of the late James and Minnie Elizabeth Jones Nichols. She married her husband Glenn R. Chapman on June 25, 1955 and he pre-deceased her on Dec. 15, 2009 after 54 years of marriage. June was a cashier for 35 years at Gerow’s Dairy in Horseheads, NY. She was an avid bowler and loved spending time with her family. June was also pre-deceased by her brother Frederick Nichols. Arlene is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: James R. and Peggy Chapman and Jeffrey H. and Patricia Chapman of Horseheads, NY; daughter and son-in-law: Cindy and Cooper Smith of Doylestown, Pa; grandchildren: Matthew, Carrie, Geoffrey, Christopher, Terrah, and Rodney; numerous great grandchildren; brother: Howard Nichols of Zephryhills, Fla.; sister and brother-in-law: Lois and Joseph Melani of Tuscon, Ariz.; sisters-in-law: Evelyn Nichols of Sayre, PA; Jane Gerould of Burlington, Pa.; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of caring friends. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Lynch Funeral Home 318 West Broad Street Horseheads, NY on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011 from noon to 2 p.m. Graveside Services will be held at 3PM at Bradford County Memorial Park in Towanda, PA with the Rev. Robert Adkins Officiating. In lieu of flowers those wishing may remember June through memorials to Southern Tier Hospice 11751 East Corning Road Corning, NY 14830.
