Howard was born Nov 22, 1922 in Orwell, PA, a son of the late James and Minnie Jones Nichols.
He is predeceased by his wife, Virginia Morrell Nichols; son, David Bruce Nichols; brother, Frederick H. Nichols; and sister, Arlene Chapman.
Howard is survived by his children, Rosemary Semian of Zephyrhills, FL, Betty (Ronald) Pettis of Erin, NY and John (Bonnie) Nichols of Wirtz, VA; eight grandchildren, 16 g-grandchildren; sister, Lois (Joseph) Melani of Tucson, AZ and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Howard retired after many years with General Electric in Elmira, NY as a furnace repair man and enjoyed working outdoors, camping and playing cards.
The family will welcome relatives and friends to Sullivan's Funeral Home, 365 E. Franklin St. at Rt. 13, Horseheads, NY on Mon, Sep 23, 2013 from 10-11 am with a Funeral Service at 11 am. Howard will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery alongside his wife immediately following. Family will provide their own flowers but those wishing to remember Howard please consider making a contribution to Gulfside Regional Hospice, 6117 Trouble Creek Rd., New Port Richey, FL 34653-5240.
