Kathy Reed, 59 of Lubbock, passed away Friday, July 7, 2017. She was born October 19, 1957 to Judge and Alice McNeal in Crosbyton, TX. Kathy received her formal education in Ralls, Texas. Kathy graduated from Estacado High School and attending South Plains College and Prairie View A&M University. Kathy worked for UMC continuing her career as an Instrument Technician. As a member of the Jerusalem Temple Church she served as the church secretary, sung in the church choir, worked with the youth and young adults. She took pride in her children, grandchildren, and loved spending time with family. Kathy is preceded in death by her loving husband, Willie Reed; her parents, Judge and Alice McNeal; one brother, Guy McNeal; two sisters, Geraldine Johnson and Annie Cooks; and one grandson, Roy Reed. Kathy leaves to cherish her memory; her son, Willie Reed (Miquela); daughter, Chandra Reed; two grandchildren, Marcus Reed and Kiarah Reed; two great grandchildren, Elani Reed and Roy Reed, Jr.; three brothers, Apostle A. R. McNeal (Brandy), Elder Rickey McNeal (Chatonya), and Vincent McNeal (Anita); one adopted brother, Tarvaris Johnson; five sisters, Alice Blackwell (Aaron), Cressie Norris, Loria Neloms, Brenda Ibenye, and Gloria Jones; a host of other relatives and friends. Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. James Baptist Church. Interment will follow at City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitations will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Griffin Mortuary.
