SERVICES IN MEMORY OF MRS. MARIA CARDER YESTERDAY
Funeral services for Mrs. Maria Carder were held yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Christian church. Rev. Sandy was in charge of the service, assisted by Rev. G. M. Fisher. A quartet composed of Mrs. A. A. Ward. Miss Maud Stevens, Bert Carr and Clarence Sargent sang, "Abide With Me," "Beautiful Isle" and "Nearer My God to Thee." There were many beautiful flowers and the church was filled with friends.
Interment was made in Conrad Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Waggener and Campbell. The pall bearers were Lee Kerr, H. G. Curtis. H. D. Packer, Valjean Riley, N. D. Shipley and Hans Fynskov.
Maria Mildred Hill was born September 9, 1840, near Memphis, Missouri and passed away at the home of her daughter, August 2 (sic), 1927, at the age of 86 years.
She was married to Joel T. Carder January 22, 1860. Fourteen children were born to them, among whom the following survive:
Mrs. M. S. Shelly, Mrs. Mary Bull and Miss Myrtle Carder, Kalispell; William H. Carder, Santa Barbar, California; Mrs. Charles Kirkpatrick, Joel F. Carder, Camas, Washington. A brother, Caleb I. Hill of Memphis also survives her.
Mrs. Carder united with the Christian church at Memphis, Missouri, more than 70 years ago. She transferred her membership here eight years ago. Mr. Carder preceded her in death in 1919.
