NEPHI - Jane Ann McPherson, 87, died at the Juab County Hospital Friday following a short illness.

She was born February 25, 1871 at Nephi, a daughter of James Ramsey and Jane Ann Ollerton McPherson. She was a member of the LDS Church and was educated in Nephi schools graduating from the Nephi High School with the first graduating class, which consisted of seven graduates, in 1899.

Miss McPherson also was a graduate of the University of Utah. She was a school teacher teaching school in places which are no longer in existence such as the two of Juab, the town of Starr, and at Ockey's Salt Creek Range east of Nephi. She then taught school in Nephi and in American Fork for 30 years retiring about 15 years ago.

Surviving are three sisters, Estelle and Lula McPherson and Mrs. A.P. Bigler, Eureka; and one brother, Heber McPherson, Nephi.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Third Ward LDS Chapel with Bishop Lee Olsen officiating. Friends may call this evening at the Anderson Funeral Home and Monday at the family residence, 897 N. Main Street, from 10 am.m until services. Burial will be in the Vine Bluff Cemetery in Nephi.
