Arthur R. Thompson, Jr. returned from WWII Christmas Eve 1944, proposed to Imogene, and they married on January 1, 1945. They traveled with the Air Force for over 20 years, traveling extensively in the U.S., Puerto Rico, England and Sweden. After he retired as a Major in the Air Force, they settled back in Austin.
Imogene was a school secretary at Brooke and Barrington Elementary schools for 20 years. The family worshipped at First Evangelical Free Church, now known as Austin Oaks Church.
Imogene arrived safely home with her savior and loved ones on July 8, 2017.
Imogene was preceded in death by parents Gustave and Edith Hermanson, brother Herman Hermanson, and husband Arthur Thompson.
She is survived by her son Terry Thompson, wife Nancy, children Cheryl & Gui Ferreira De Oliveira, Diane Crabtree, Melissa Castillo-Wall & Doug Wall, David & Melissa Bell; and her daughter Debbie Archer, husband David, sons Aaron & Joanna Archer, Nathan & Elizabeth Archer, Daniel & Hilary Archer, and Micah Archer & fiancee Brittany Beasley. Imogene had 18 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sister Mary Lee Bryant, sister-in-law Gladys Hermanson, and many nephews and nieces.
Graveside services will be held at Capital Memorial Park in Pflugerville at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 13th. Obituary and memorial guestbook available online at www.wcfish.com
