Henry Sears Wadley married Martha "Mattie" Ellen Cook on 17 December 1878 at Hill County, Texas. She preceded him in death. The couple had three children born to this union: Samuel Pryor, Sanchel Wadley, and Mamie Ella Wadley.

Henry Sears Wadley died at this home in the Tonk Valley Community after suffering with cancer for many months. Services were held in the Tonk Valley Methodist Church officiated by Rev. E.V. Cox. Mr. Wadley was a faithful member of the Methodist Church.

Henry Sears Wadley responded to the country's call at the fight with two brothers, Paddie Wadley and Brookie Wadley, who enlisted in 7th Kentucky Infantry. He was in all the famous battles in which Cheatham's gallant division was engaged. At the battle of Shiloh, Paddie Wadley who was the color bearer, was killed. Broke Wadley immediately raised the colors and carried to battle's end. Henry Sears Wadley was a soldier, friend, loving husband and father.
