Mr. Newell Robert Luedecke of Fredericksburg passed away in his home on Monday, July 10th at the age of 80 years.

Newell Robert Luedecke was born on August 23rd, 1936 in Jim Wells County, Texas to Otto Fritz and Winnie Smith Luedecke.

Newell married Ann Nemec, his soulmate and lifelong best friend, on September 3, 1956 in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Violet, Texas.

Mr. Newell R. Luedecke is survived by his wife, Ann Nemec Luedecke of Fredericksburg
Two sons, one daughter, and spouses: Dr. Robert Luedecke and Anne Foster of Helotes
Richard and Sheryl Luedecke of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Debbie and Kim Wratten of Spring, Texas
Ten Grandchildren and spouses:
Jenny Keys (Thadeus); Richard Zachary Luedecke (Jenna); Beth Capozzelli (Matthew);

He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother: Alton Luedecke

Newell’s greatest joy in life was his wife, Ann. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather (Grandpa) and great-grandfather (Pop). Newell enjoyed organic gardening, farming, RV camping and hunting. He loved being outdoors, working on projects, and was a wonderful example to his family and others. He had a servant’s heart, which was demonstrated by volunteering at St Mary’s Catholic Church, sharing garden vegetables with friends and family, and lending a helping hand to his children with numerous projects. Newell also valued the comradery of his fellow employees at Central Power and Light for 38 years and the lifelong friendships he established.
The body will lie in state in the chapel of the Schaetter Funeral Home, Fredericksburg until 9:45 A.M. on Thursday, July 13th with Mass of Resurrection at 10:00 A.M. in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. John Nolan officiating.

Graveside services and interment will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Cemetery

A Vigil Service will be held on Wednesday, July 12th at 6:00 P.M. in the chapel of the Schaetter Funeral Home, Fredericksburg

Visitation for Mr. Newell R. Luedecke will begin on Wednesday, July 12th from 4:00 till 7:00 P.M. and on Thursday, July 13th from 7:00 till 9:45 A.M. in the chapel of the Schaetter Funeral Home, Fredericksburg
