A lifetime resident of Longview, James served in the US Army during the Korean
Conflict. James worked for L.E. Myers for a short time before being employed to
SWEPCO where he worked for more than 40 years.
James was a member of Valley View Baptist Church in Longview. Before he began his
residency at Whispering Pines nursing home, he enjoyed fishing and traveling. More
recently, he passed his days playing dominos and BINGO, watching his westerns, and
listening to music performed by visiting musicians.
James is preceded in death by his loving wife, Velma Vickery; son, Preston Vickery;
step-daughter, Ruedean Burk; his mother and father, four sisters and two brothers.
