Archie "Sonny" Neal Rhodes, Jr., 76, of Hooker passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at his home. He was born August 8, 1940 in Claremore, Oklahoma, the son of Archie N. and Lorene Holman Rhodes Sr.

He enlisted in the Navy on October 27, 1957 and was honorably discharged on October 16, 1963. He was an Aviation Machinist Mate 3rd Class.

On June 20,1962, he was united in marriage to Mary Barbara York in Borger, Texas.

Archie was in the oil and gas industry for his entire career and after his retirement worked at the Hooker Lumber Co. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family and grandchildren. He loved riding his 1987 gold Goldwing 1200 Aspencade.

Preceding in death are his parents, brothers, Danny and Jimmy Rhodes and sister, Judy Rhodes.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Mary York Rhodes of the home; two sons, Tony Rhodes and his wife, Pam of Mullinville, Kansas; Scott Rhodes of Hooker; one daughter, Anjanette Rhodes Gibler and her husband, David of Hooker; grandchildren, Aaron, Megan, Sydney, Zach Reid, Regan, Kellie and two great grandchildren, Montana and Kyla; one sister, Sheryl Rhodes and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 8, 2017 at the Hooker Cemetery with Rev. Michael Carter of the First Baptist Church in Guymon, Oklahoma officiating.
