Frank Amos Watson, 81, of Scotts, passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital.
A celebration of Frank’s life will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation in Union City, on M-60, 3 miles east of M-66. Pastor John McConihay will officiate the service. Interment will follow at North Athens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM on Wednesday, July 5, 2017, also at The Lighthouse.
Frank was born on August 8, 1935 in Athens Township to John and Arlene (Ling) Watson, Sr. He and his several brothers and sisters grew up in the Athens area. On August 30, 1969 he married the former Mary Jane Dunn (Maxon) in Kalamazoo. Frank worked in factories. He retired from Brunswick/Inter-Kal after 20 years of warehouse work. He and his wife have resided in the Scotts area since 1984.
Frank was proud of his Native American Heritage and his Tribe was important to him. He was very involved in activities at the NHBP Reservation in Fulton. He liked occasional visits to the casino with his wife. Family was always important to Frank. He enjoyed camping with them, gardening and fishing. He especially enjoyed visits from Sara and Aaron, his grandchildren who lived closest. He loved being involved in the annual maple syrup project at the NHBP Reservation.
Survivors include Frank’s wife of 47 years, Mary; his children, Cathy of Kalamazoo, Jennifer of Scotts, Diane (Tim) Stout of Kalamazoo, Rose Quick of Kalamazoo, Delbert Watson of Kalamazoo, Becky (Bob) TenHoor of Galesburg, Kevin Maxson of Watervliet and Robin Watson of Fulton; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; and several siblings, Barbara Watson, Wanetta Watson, Winona “Pat” Lumbart, Ramona Hine, John Watson, Jr. and Jim Garvey.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Athens Area Community Foundation.
