Darrell Leslie ‘Corky’ Corkins

Lecompton - Darrell L. Corkins, 85, went home to the loving arms of Jesus his Savior. He died July 5, 2017, at his son’s home in Lecompton.

Darrell was born November 7, 1931, in Liberal , the son of Fred Harvey and Velma (McCullough) Corkins. Darrell graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1949. He retired after 42 years at Cessna, where he was a tool designer and coordinator.

On November 25, 1950, Darrell married Doris Jeanne Jenkins in Hutchinson. Prior to her death, they celebrated and spent 64 years together. She died February 7, 2014.

Survivors include: children, Phillip Corkins of Lecompton, Arnold Corkins of Kimberling City, MO, Debbie Back of Wichita, and Richard Corkins of South Hutchinson; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter, Velma Marie Corkins.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Andrew Hawkinson presiding. A private interment will be in Eastside Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may sign the memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to Gospel Chapel, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
