CORONER ROLAND FAULKNER gave a verdict of accidental death. Hospital authorities said the victim had suffered a fractured skull and numerous other injuries. State police reported the elderly man was struck while crossing Route 162 shortly after noon. Petteys, they said, was returning home from church services when he darted across the highway and was struck by a southbound sedan driven by Mrs. Dolores E. Bauer, 21, of New Brunswick, NJ. She was not detained by police. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Pangburn funeral home in Central Bridge. The funeral home will be open tomorrow evening from 7 to 9 p.m.

PETTEYS WORKED as a general laborer until his retirement several years ago. He was the oldest member of the Sloansville Baptist Church. He was a native of Carlisle. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Luella Quant Petteys; two daughters, Mrs. Gail Van Aller and Miss Evelyn Petteys of Sloansville; a son, Richard Petteys of Governor's Corners; two brothers, Lewis and Jesse Petteys; a sister, Mrs. Fanny Boyd and six grand children.
