Early Life: Richard was born November 30, 1927, in Cimarron, Kansas, to Lewis "Nick" Crockett and Nellie Mildred Bender Crockett. He grew up in Tucson, Arizona, and graduating from Tucson Senior High School in 1945.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: He joined the United States Navy at age 17 and served in World War II, Korean War, and in Vietnam. He retired after 25 years in the Navy and then served in various occupations such as taxi driver, Chief of Police, elevator maintenance man for University of Arizona, custodian for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, gas station owner, and maintenance supervisor. His most beloved role was that of husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved his family and they in turn loved him. He served in many auxiliaries as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully. He loved his mission with his sweetheart, teaching the people of Vancouver, British Columbia. Throughout his life, he shared his time, love, and resources to bless others and made friends wherever he went. He will be remembered as a true example of Christ-like charity and service. Richard Lewis Crockett, beloved, father, brother, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully in Orem, Utah, on July 1, 2017. He was 89.
Survived By: His wife of 60 years, Bonnie Joe Grigsby Ward; his daughter, Kathleen Marie Crockett Raney, son in law James Raney, his son, Nick Crockett, daughter in law Andrea Godbold Crockett; his brother, John Crockett, of Virginia; his grandchildren: Chris and Chelle Raney, Kyle Raney, Collin and Makelle Raney, Katelyn Raney, Joshua and April Crockett, Courtney and Jake Tipton, Jordan Crockett, Nicholas Crockett, Jacob Crockett and Bradley Crockett; and great grandchildren: Sienna, Coen and Ellory.
Preceded In Death By: His parents; his sisters: Doris Evelyn Musgrow, Kay Jay, and Carolyn Edgett; and his brothers: Bob Crockett and Don Crockett, who passed two days prior to Richard's death.
